This time of year is so powerful: I am always moved by the music, uplifted by the prayers, and awed by the magic of our community when we gather together. Each time I step on the bima for the High Holy Days, I think back to my first Rosh Hashanah 28 years ago. A young rabbi, straight from rabbinical school, I looked out onto a sea of unfamiliar faces, each encouraging me with beaming smiles and embracing me with open arms. Those faces did not remain unfamiliar for long. We have become family, and now, as senior rabbi, I am so excited that we are embarking on a new chapter of our journey together.
