Bar/Bat Mitzvah

At Emanuel Synagogue becoming Bar or Bat Mitzvah is not just an event, it’s an experience; it’s a journey you take with your family and community.

We offer you and your child a contemporary and meaningful understanding of Jewish tradition with an opportunity for you to find your own place within it. Our B‘nei Mitzvah students develop a personal relationship with the rabbis, a connection with synagogue life and a grounded knowledge of Torah and what it what it means to them.

We do not differentiate based on gender; we empower each student to have access to Torah. We inspire Jewish literacy and encourage leadership and responsibility of the Jewish people.

The Bar/Bat Mitzvah process is a very special and personal experience and the entire staff at Emanuel Synagogue are here to ensure an engaging and uplifting journey for your family.

Preparation for the Bar/Bat Mitzvah ceremony is an exciting process and we want you to feel nurtured and celebrated throughout this journey – in addition to tutoring and meetings with our Rabbis, we also offer the Yesod program. The program runs parallel to the Bar/Bat Mitzvah preparation process, adding a dynamic and social learning environment on our campus to enrich your child’s coming of age experience.
 
We strongly encourage all students, especially those not attending a Jewish Day School, to enrol in Yesod alongside their Bar/Bat Mitzvah preparation process.
