Emanuel Social Justice Donation Drive For Gunawirra

Emanuel Synagogue’s Social Justice group been unable to carry out our usual volunteer work with the advent of Covid19. As a result, we have been looking for a project that could work logistically with the current government health regulations of social distancing, and the easing of the lockdown.

We understand things have been tough for many of us, but we believe that this time has reshaped our view of the world, our place in it, and how to make it a better planet with the emphasis on the importance of community.

We have selected the GUNAWIRRA drive for donations for Aboriginal children. You may recall we had success with the same drive for Mitzvah Day in 2018. One of Gunawirra’s signature programs is the Five Big Ideas program. By teaching pre-schoolers about personal hygiene, basic health care and simple nutrition, significant improvements to primary health care can be created, therefore reducing longer term chronic health problems and ultimately reducing the difference in life expectancy between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.

This has been created with the goal of teaching pre-schoolers about personal hygiene, basic health care and simple nutrition, significant improvements to primary health care can be created, therefore reducing longer term chronic health problems and ultimately reducing the difference in life expectancy between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.

Donation Delivery

Donations can then be dropped off at two of our committee members homes in either Kingsford or Surry Hills. We have costed these packs out at around $45.00. We would like to complete the programme by June 21st

Please register your interest via email and then we can finalise delivery logistics and protocols directly with those keen to donate
