EMANUEL SOCIAL JUSTICE (ESJ) LOCKDOWN PROJECT

REPURPOSING PRE-LOVED DEVICES FOR PEOPLE IN NEED

Do you have old and unused devices such as laptops, mobile phones, and tablets lying around your house?

With repair, secure erasure of data* and reconditioning, these devices are ready for connecting to people in need, can help close the digital divide and provide a solution to e-waste.

The Reconnect Project have skilled technicians who specialise in repairing mobile phones, tablets, laptops, and electronic items.

Reconnect is essentially a social enterprise and works with support agencies including women’s shelters, refugee services, and youth outreach programs. It advises on which resources are best suited to their clients so they receive suitable technology, saving both time and financial outlay which can instead be directed to essential support programs and services.

Let’s do something now

So, gather your old devices now, in readiness for the end of the lockdown and put them back into worthwhile service. All makes and models of mobile phones and tablets, regardless of their age or condition are welcome.

Your donation will assist:

  • women fleeing family violence
  • people in transitional housing needing to communicate with support services
  • refugees in detention seeking to connect with loved ones
  • youth studying or applying for work.

Local authorised donation stations are located at:

  • Marrickville: The Bower, 34/142 Addison Road Marrickville (open 7 days)
  • Zetland: The Bower, 3 Joynton Ave, Zetland (Mon – Fri 10am -4pm)

Alternatively, you can mail your device to Reconnect at:
