Women’s Seder
Emanuel Synagogue

Women played a central role in the events of the Exodus story. Every year, women around the world gather for women’s seders, the chance to celebrate the women of the Exodus and consider how the themes of freedom and slavery apply to us, as women.

The women of our congregation’s Rosh Hodesh group have compiled a Haggadah with readings, songs, poetry, and story to celebrate this very special seder.

We would love the women of our community to join us.

This year it will be a catered, kosher for Pesach meal at the synagogue. Bookings are essential and numbers will be limited due to our covid restrictions. There is no charge but on the night you may make a donation towards the catering if you are able.

We regret to advise that registrations for this seder are now closed.

Sale of chametz

During Pesach it is not permitted to own any chametz. To avoid having to throw or give away the chametz that we may have in our possession, we sell it to a non-Jewish person for the duration of the festival. Often people will authorise a person within the community to sell the chametz on their behalf.

If you would like to arrange this, please click here for details.
