Tu Bishevat

Tu bishevat is one of four new years in the Jewish calendar, this one specifically celebrating trees and the natural world.

We take time to connect with nature, to give thanks for the beauty of our world and commit to preserving and tending to it for  the future.

The Kabbalists in Tzvat created a special Tu Bishevat seder, where we drink four cups of wine, representing the four seasons, and eat different fruits which all have a meaning and significance.

Some years we gather for a seder and others, we take the opportunity to spend time in nature and with the texts from our tradition which speak of the world. It is also traditional to plant trees at Tu Bishevat.
